Yellow Iris

Last year I bought several large Iris germanica, but this much smaller unnamed yellow variety blooms several weeks ahead of the bigger hybrids. Its elegant buds pushing up in early spring are always a joy, but this year early growth nearly came to grief as some hard frosts were still to come. The first flower bravely appeared in full glory today!
