Hippeastrum

We are in the middle of a serious drought, and our water company is theatening a hosepipe ban. However, some much-needed rain is falling outside right now, so I’m going to start off with the small-flowered hippeastrum blooming in our bedroom. It is one of several I have and it’s now in its fourth year. This particular one bears many flower heads from bulbs which keep multiplying in the pot, and the cheerful, vibrant white stripes on red make it one of my favourite smaller flowering varieties.
